Masakhane participated in a Request for Proposals to receive grants from the Lacuna Fund. The goal is the Lacuna Fund is to put the benefits of machine learning within reach of data scientists, researchers, and social entrepreneurs worldwide, by funding creation of locally relevant datasets.
Our of the 6 proposals submitted by the Masakhane Consortium, four of them were awarded funding for the Language Datasets RFP.
